If your child was born between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014, he or she will be enrolled in school for the 2020/21 school year.
Please register your school-age child at the primary school responsible for you in the period from 19 September to 2 October 2019. This is usually the public primary school closest to your home. You are legally obliged to register for school.
Additionally, you can register your child at our school. Please find the registration form and an information sheet below.
The opening hours of the school office are as follows:
Monday + Tuesday + Thursday + Friday: 8am-12pm
Please note that according to the Berlin school law you are not permitted to apply to numerous schools at the same time.
If the Wangari Maathai International School Berlin is your second or third wish, it is not necessary to submit an application to us. In the case of a rejection by the preferred school, the application documents will be forwarded to us.
Admission to the State International Schools takes place in grade 1, and the State International Schools admit children who speak German or English as if they were their mother tongue; the admission of children who speak German as their mother tongue also requires at least passive knowledge of English.
The language skills required for admission must be verified in a uniformly approved examination by the school supervisory authority. Native language skills are tested in either English or German, depending on which language is indicated as the native language, in both languages of instruction for children registered as bilingual.
Within the framework of the class establishment, ten places are allocated to children who live permanently in Berlin. The remaining ten places are exclusively available to children from highly mobile families.
Within both contingents there are five places available for pupils with German as their mother tongue and five places for pupils with English as their mother tongue.
Families are considered to be highly mobile if, for professional reasons, one or both parents or guardians relocate several times, not only for a short period of time at intervals of a maximum of four years; one-off stays abroad and intentions to enter or emigrate do not justify high mobility.
